Swappy & UK GDPR: How Your Data Is Protected
How Swappy applies the core principles of UK data protection law — minimisation, transparency and the right to erasure — to driving test swaps.
Data minimisation in practice
UK GDPR requires collecting only data that is "adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary". Swappy takes this literally: a swap listing contains your test date, time, centre and preferred alternatives — nothing more. No special category data, no identity documents, no financial data.
The right to erasure, built in
You don't need to email anyone to exercise your right to be forgotten. The Delete Account option in Settings removes your listings, swap proposals, chat messages, alerts and profile — and automatically cancels any live subscription so you're never charged after leaving.
Marketing opt-outs are permanent
When you unsubscribe or delete your account, a suppression record is kept containing only your email address. Its sole purpose is to guarantee no future marketing or win-back email can ever reach you — a deliberate compliance choice.
What this means for you
You can use Swappy to find an earlier test date knowing the platform holds less information about you than a typical newsletter signup — and that you can erase it all in two clicks.
Swap your test the safe, official way
Only your test date, time and centre are needed — no personal details, no bots, just the official DVSA phone line.
