Privacy-First by Design: How Swappy Was Built
Most services bolt privacy on afterwards. Swappy started from a different question: what's the absolute minimum needed to swap two test dates? The answer shaped everything.
Principle 1: You can't leak what you don't hold
A swap needs exactly three facts per learner: date, time, centre. So that's all Swappy's listing form has fields for. There is no database column for licence numbers or booking references — the data simply has nowhere to go.
Principle 2: Verification belongs to DVSA
Identity checks happen where they should: between each learner and DVSA, on the official phone line. Swappy never inserts itself into that relationship, which means it never needs to collect identity documents.
Principle 3: Disclosure requires mutual consent
Display names on listings, built-in messaging for coordination, and contact sharing that only activates when both learners opt in. The default at every step is: reveal nothing.
Principle 4: Leaving means leaving
Account deletion removes listings, messages, proposals and alerts, and cancels any live subscription automatically — keeping only an email suppression record so you can never be marketed to again.
Swap your test the safe, official way
Only your test date, time and centre are needed — no personal details, no bots, just the official DVSA phone line.
