The DVSA Swap Call Explained — No 3-Way Call Needed

Good news: you don't need a conference call or special phone network to swap tests. One learner leads the call, the other simply waits by their phone.

The Process Has Changed — It's Simpler Now

Previously, learners worried about getting both parties onto the same call — tricky, because most UK mobile networks don't support 3-way calling. That's no longer necessary. The DVSA now handles the coordination itself: one learner calls in, and the DVSA rings the other learner mid-swap to confirm and finalise both bookings.

How the Swap Call Works

1. Match and agree the swap

You and another learner match on Swappy, agree the swap, and decide together who will lead the call to the DVSA.

2. The lead caller phones the DVSA

At the agreed time, the lead caller rings the DVSA on 0300 200 1122 and explains they've agreed a test swap with another learner.

3. The other learner waits on standby

The DVSA calls the second learner directly during the same conversation to confirm their side of the swap. Just keep your phone to hand.

4. The DVSA finalises both bookings

The agent completes both changes in one go and each learner receives a confirmation email. No conference call needed.

Why this is better

No conference calls, no network limitations, no meeting strangers in person. Swappy matches you, helps you both agree who leads the call, and the DVSA does the rest on its official phone line — with both learners verified directly.
