Do You Need a UK Driving Test with a Foreign Licence?

Direct exchange (no test needed)
Licences from these countries can be exchanged directly: EU/EEA countries, Australia, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Zimbabwe.
You must apply within 5 years of becoming UK resident.
Must take UK test
If your licence is from any other country (USA, India, Pakistan, etc.), you'll need to take both the theory and practical test. You can drive on your foreign licence for 12 months after becoming a UK resident.
